Salman was embroiled in a long-standing controversy in a 1998 blackbuck poaching case, which dates back to the shooting of Sooraj Barjatya’s ‘Hum Saath Saath Hain’. He, along with co-stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Neelam and Tabu, was charged under the Wildlife (Protection) Act. Salman was sentenced to five years in jail, but after spending a week behind bars, the same was withdrawn. Earlier this year, the actor got some relief in the blackbuck poaching case when the Jodhpur District and Sessions court dismissed the Rajasthan government’s plea against him. The actor had also thanked his fans on social media after the same.
