How Harry Kane can set an English record in Euro 2020 final

Harry Kane finds form

Harry Kane had a rather slow start to the European Championships this summer.

The Tottenham star headed into the competition on the back of a scintillating club campaign that saw him notch both the most goals and most assists in the Premier League.

As a result, there was a lot of expectation that Kane would be integral to England’s success this summer.

However, the Euro 2020 group stage would see Kane fail to find the net in all three games, with the Three Lions’ only goals instead coming from Raheem Sterling.

But, in the knockout rounds, Kane finally ended his duct scoring some crucial goals – the first of which was England’s second in a historic last 16 win over Germany.

Kane would then net a brace as England hammered Ukraine 4-0 in the quarter-finals.

Then, on Wednesday, Kane netted a goal that will no doubt live long in the memory of all England fans.

Gareth Southgate and co. would be taken to extra time by Denmark. However, Raheem Sterling would win a penalty shortly before the end of first-half extra time.

Kane would step up and, whilst missing the penalty, scored the rebound to send England into their first-ever European Championship final.

Harry Kane can overtake Gary Lineker vs Italy

His winning goal at Wembley etched Kane’s name into the history books for a different reason.

The Spurs forward has now scored 10 goals at major tournaments for England – four this summer at six and the 2018 World Cup.

This means that Kane is now tied with Gary Lineker for the most England goals at major tournaments.

So, if he scores on Sunday vs Italy, then Kane will become England’s all-time top-scorer at major tournaments.
