According to the latest report from the Global Survey on Digital and Sustainable Trade Facilitation of the United Nations, the Philippines has obtained an upheave in global trade facilitation with a score of 86.02%, an increase of 5.37% from 2019.
The nation reportedly scored higher than the global average implementation rate at 65% and the Southeast Asia average implementation rate at 74.29%.
The survey, which involved five (5) categories that include cross-border paperless trade, paperless trade, institutional arrangement and cooperation, formalities and transparency – shown perfect 100% scores for the Philippines on transparency and formalities categories.
The nation has also reportedly improved the scores in three (3) other categories namely institutional arrangement and cooperation, cross-border paperless trade, and paperless trade with 77.78%, 61.11%, and 85.19% scores respectively.
The UN survey, which covers over 100 countries globally, has proven to show that countries are continuing to move toward a seamless and efficient trading environment due to the simplifying and digitising formalities in an effort to sustain international trade despite the disruption caused by the pandemic.
