The government of Cambodia together with World Food Programme (WFP), have developed a joint initiative to end malnutrition while contributing to sustainable economic development in the country.
The programme, known as SUN Business Network Cambodia (SBN Cambodia), aims to bring businesses together to improve the nation’s nutritional status and Global Nutrition Awareness Movement, which aims to eliminate global malnutrition in 2030.
Sok Silo, General Secretary of Council for Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD), said that local businesses in the country play a vital role in improving the food quality and improving nutritional status in Cambodia.
To date, 20 enterprises have joined as the founding members of the Nutrition Promotion Movement in Cambodia, with 115 people from private sectors, business organisations, and chambers of commerce came to the launching event.
The World Food Programme is the food-assistance branch of the United Nations. It is the world’s largest humanitarian organisation, the largest one focused on hunger and food security, and the largest provider of school meals.
