ANNA HOO CLINIC: Adapt. Survive. Thrive.

“Adapt to Survive” is a phrase that resonated the most among businesses over the
past two years, as a series of lockdowns and movement restrictions during the
COVID-19 pandemic forced organisations to realign their work processes and
strategies. As a leading aesthetics and wellness centre, Anna Hoo Clinic found itself
having to do so the same. Medical Director, Dr Anna Hoo Jen Shi, reveals more.

“When the lockdown was first announced in March 2020, we immediately took steps to preserve our cash flow to ensure that we survive through the crisis. Being a medical services provider, we were able to remain open during the Movement Control Order (MCO). However, we had to diversify our offerings to continue generating income during that period.

As we were unable to provide aesthetic treatments, we shifted our focus towards wellness products and services. These included medical consultations and health supplements to boost immunisation. We leveraged the internet and delivery services to reach out to our patients and ensure that our products continued to help them optimise their health.

There is a saying that ‘teamwork makes the dream work’, and that was the case for Anna Hoo Clinic over the past two years. I am especially pleased to say that everyone in the team was super-charged and worked hard to brave the pandemic. We strengthened our competencies while being very careful with our spending.

Because of this, we were able to weather the worst of the storm during 2020 and 2021 and even achieved positive growth in the top and bottom lines despite the less-than-ideal conditions. I am confident that 2022 will be an even better year for us.

At the same time, another key element behind our success has been our conducive and positive work culture. All staff are Encouraged to help each other achieve targets because we believe that everyone will benefit from the company’s success.

The Road Ahead

I believe that the past two years and the global pandemic have demonstrated that people are ready and willing to invest in their health. Being in the industry, we strive to help our patients achieve optimal health and that is one of our targets for 2022.

Another area of growth that we are focusing on is the Internet of Things (IoT). It may sound cliché, but IoT is truly the way of the future and every industry, including ours, need to get on board. That is why we are increasing our involvement in IoT and we hope that it will bear fruit over the next three to five years.

Looking ahead, we are aiming to grow our team. However, that will come with
its own set of challenges. This may change the dynamics and close-knit relations
within the organisation which has been crucial to our success. At the same time,
we could also face a slowdown or plateau in our growth. When that happens,
it is up to me, as the leader, to rally the team and find new catalysts.”
